Mikey Feb Fish

Mikey Feb – Performance Fish

Last year the crew from YORK Surfboards decided that we’d be making Mikey Feb a Fish. The idea was to make Mikey a performance fish that still looks like a retro board with some modern features worked into it. This will keep with what the YORK label is all about, but with a little twist.

To start things off I made the plan shape of his board a little narrower and took down a lot of the thickness that is in the board.
At 5’8″ x 20 1/2 x 2 3/8″ the T-Bird has 34 L of volume, largely due to the fact that the deck is so flat.
We aimed to give Mikey about 3 litres less in this fish than his normal shortboards and the final dims that I settled on were 5’8″ x 19 3/4 x 2 5/16″ with just under 32 L of volume.

I slightly altered the bottom configuration on this board, to make it a bit more traditional giving it some very slight single concave into vee out the back as this model would be surfed either as a twin or a keel fin.
The result was a fun little “retro performer” that is fast down the line and responsive on the rail.
